I have always been sport crazy, I am extremely competitive and incredibly ambitious.
When I was 18 I obtained a tennis scholarship to a Division 1 University in the USA
I studied two degrees whilst playing tennis full time, for 4 years - (I have never settled for average)
I came out with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science and Human Communication Studies
I was exercising between 3-8 hours per day
Whilst being a full-time athlete I was the classic case of "you can't out train a bad diet"
I also dove right into the American lifestyle
Drank gallons of fizzy drinks and participated in regular midnight feasting at McDonalds
I quickly became the un-proud owner of a gut bigger than any athlete should be carrying around
"This is just who I am, I can't change that"
"If I am exercising this much and this hard, I can eat whatever I want"
On my return to the UK after 4 years I decided to rest my body
I began exercising 3 times a week for an hour each time
I ate 3 home cooked meals per day
The weight began to drop off me
Was I getting ill?
No! It was my body saying THANK YOU!
It was my body telling me to relax, adopt this moderation and we will reward you kindly
This change in my body had me hooked from the word GO
I didn't even realise I was unhappy with my body until the change began
My clothes actually fit me, I had more energy, I was sleeping better and was far less stressed
I wanted, needed to learn more about this
I was never unhappy with my body shape or weight, but changing my diet and exercise regimen...
... It transformed my life
One thing lead to another, and I ended up going back to Uni to study a Masters Degree
Sport and Exercise Nutrition
I launched Food Is Life soon after graduating because I needed to spread what I knew
I now understood that you didn't have to just live
You can and you should feel ALIVE, every single day
And the best thing?
It's so simple to do, once you understand how and why
My passions transferred from tennis to health, nutrition, food and fitness
So now... I live, breath and work everyday to spread my message with one goal in mind
To make the world healthy and happy again
Nutrition, food and exercise has a power beyond what I thought possible
Will I ever stop learning, and never stop striving to make this known to the world!
